Kozue Jinnouchi
 
 

Ms. Jinnouchi began taking piano lessons in Japan at the age of five, her family moved to the United States in 1991 so that she could continue her studies. Ms. Jinnouchi has received many awards and scholarships. For 6 years, she has been a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. In 1996, she appeared with the Westmoreland Symphony and Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra as a result of winning the Young Artist's Concerto Competitions. In the same year she also won the Helen Clay Frick Scholarship, the Keynote Competition, and The World Piano Competition which honored her with an American Music Scholarship. She has also won an award from the Pittsburgh Concert Society and performed in the Annual Young Artists Concert Series that was taped and aired on WQED-FM.

Ms. Jinnouchi has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City four times in the past six years. She also performed on 88.7FM WBFO's "Classics Live" in Buffalo, as well as Rhapsody in Blue in Pittsburgh. Recently, she performed with the Eastman Wind Ensemble/Orchestra and Ossia. In the past years, she has played for numerous master classes including, Gabriel Chodos, Earl Wild, Joseph Kalichstein, and Rebecca Penneys. In summer 1999, she won first place in the Chautauqua Piano Solo Competition and the Etude Award. As a result, she received a full Chautauqua Summer School Scholarship and gave a solo recital in Lenna Hall in summer 2000. In 2000, she won the Carnegie Hall Millennium Piano Book Project Competition and performed Rzewski's The Days Fly By and Hannibal's The John Brown and Blue as a premiere concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City with Ursula Oppens. The New York Times wrote, "The most stunning performance [of the evening]."

She graduated from Eastman School of Music in May 2000 with high distinction. She also received the Performer's Certificate, one of the biggest performance awards from Eastman. She just finished her studies at Eastman for the Master Degree under Natalya Antonova with Eastman Tuition Scholarship and Graduate Award in accompanying. Last year, she received the Catherine Filene Shouse Arts Leadership Program Graduate Certificate.

As a composer, she composed over 300 pieces with many genres and styles. Ms. Jinnouchi won first place in the National PTA Cultural Arts Program and the National High School Bravo Theatre Competition. Recently she began studying electronic music/jazz and composing for many films. She performed Reverberations and Vysehrad with her Image, Movement and Sound (IMS) group. As a filmmaker, she produced over 20 documents and music videos. Last winter, she received the Best Short Films for Cincinnati International Film Festival, The Big Special Recognition for The Big Mini-DV Festival, and was accepted to Santa Fe Festival 2002.

In summer 2001, she was an interpreter/assistant for Eastman Summer Seminar in Hamamatsu, Japan. Last summer, she was a Japanese Community Coordinator, Pianist, and Sound Engineer at the Performing Arts Camp, "Vivace" in Tokyo, Japan. As a DJ, she had own NYC BB internet radio starring with MC Akkie. As a pianist, she just performed with New Orleans Sym. Orchestra for the world premier of piano concerto. Also she performed with Criss Angel at NYC, and appeared on ABC Family Channel and Sci-fi Channel several times which is also airing at 13 other countries.
